Coexistence with Nature-Hof ter Spreess

Rooted in the principle of coexistence with nature, the Hof ter Spreess masterplan reinterprets a 1970s allotment once intended for dense apartment blocks. Developed while collaborating with SumProject + SumResearch, the proposal envisions the castle and its surroundings as a continuous green landscape. A slender, curved route weaves through the site, connecting small-scale housing clusters lightly raised on columns to preserve the natural terrain. Each unit—composed of a living and night volume linked by a transparent corridor—encourages spatial fluidity and a sensitive relationship with the environment. A developed version of this proposal received planning approval in 2023, with phased construction now underway.
